My project is to develop a prototype for a participatory collective design website, with the purpose of creating a platform that facilitates accessible communication and promotes connections among people. After multiple iterations of layout sketches, I ultimately decided to refer to the website layouts used by BBC and many official organisations in our country. This approach enables users to quickly and efficiently access the information they need, which aligns with the original intent of the platform. The promotional page still uses large images and headlines to attract attention; however, once users click through, I hope the website will appear professional. In terms of navigation, users primarily interact with the site through clicking and scrolling, minimising the need for complex operations to ensure quick Responsiveness, just click on the place you are interested in, and you can immediately jump to the relevant page and get more information. I think this is very effective in helping users. It's the same on mobile devices, and both clients allow custom settings in the settings menu, such as color blindness mode, larger or smaller images and font sizes, etc.. I aim for users to begin considering joining collective activities or sharing their experiences after reading the content. On the core pages, I will provide detailed information about the community structure and introduce the professional organisations supporting it, along with concrete real-life examples, which will inspire users to feel that they can also become part of the community. When developing user personas, I considered several aspects and ultimately chose colour vision deficiency as the focus. This allows users to find information relevant to themselves and fosters a deeper understanding of people with disabilities, encouraging them to contribute and offer help. Therefore, for ease of use and accessibility, I will include more clearly defined thematic images, larger font sizes, and bigger buttons. Additionally, the images should feature diverse genders, ages, and ethnicities. I have also chosen a professional yet friendly tone, which will make the website appear reliable and approachable, offering comfort to those in need.At the same time, I have also iterated and optimised the logo. Previously, my understanding of the project's objectives was incorrect, so using "hull" in the design was actually inaccurate. I was inspired by an animated series, where the image of a tree is often used to symbolize concepts such as "connection," which aligns well with the philosophy of my project. In future designs, I will base the concept on a tree trunk with branches. Additionally, I have noticed that many icon designs employ a method of dividing and then merging the entire graphic, indicating that a large figure is composed of multiple smaller elements. Therefore, I plan to use smooth and continuous curved lines to cut the large tree image, leaving blank spaces in the middle. These small patterns can then be filled with different colors, representing various organizations that together form a community. The color palette will be drawn from the representative colors of each organization, such as the orange of a butterfly or other colors with positive meanings. At this stage, this is only a preliminary concept, and further confirmation is needed regarding the specific cutting areas and the composition of colours.
